What to call this category?
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:19:12 PM »
Anyone else have issues with "Heliopath"?

Path - from  πάθος (pathos) - meaning to suffer - as in sociopaths making society suffer.  A "heliopath" suggests affliction of some kind and may have unfortunate associations with the various "xxxxxx-pathic" personality types attracted to the diner.  It may not be suitable here.  Sun is about solutions, not problems.

:)

I can't bring myself to use the term heliopath. Sounds kinda pretentious and strange to me.

I certainly understand your reservations.  However, I do not share them.  I spent two years preparing to go into naturopathic medicine (until I got sticker shock), and several more studying homeopathy, so I am quite comfortable with using words that include "path" to indicate relief from suffering.  Thus I would expect heliopathy to involve some kind of cure that includes the sun, or in this case the SUN.

Now as to the name of this category, I would at least change it from "Heliopath" to "Heliopathic" to give it a more adjectival form.

Empath-A person who is capable of feeling the emotions of others despite the fact that they themselves are not going through the same situation.

What ever happened to "Sunsteaders?"

Biggest problem with "heliopath" is that you'd always have to explain it.

The explanation is not difficult.  Helio is Greek for Sun.  Path is direction.

"Following the Path of the Sun" is what a Heliopath is explicitly.

I'll change it if it is Voted Down, but I still like it.

Wait a second.

We're not talking about the people here, or what the words actually mean; we're talking about a term of art to explain what SUN is about to all those people who "don't read" or who are "functionally ignorant." (As in podcast listeners... Remember?)

OTOH,  I have mistaken the point . . . which is entirely possible.

I am a waterbearer in service to the earth (mother/feminine) and sun (father/masculine), increasingly in alignment with the changing of an Aeon. Like an energetic bridge between the fire of the sun and the water of the earth.

Go ahead and use whatever designation you like. A key here is dissensus. What monkers that stick will stick.
